• Sampling from the shore tanks at least 24 hours before the arrival of the incoming vessel
• Supervising the tests performed on the shore tank samples in the presence of an independent inspector and comparison of the test results with the specifications
• Inquiring about the previous cargo carried on board the vessel as soon as it berths alongside quay (result of the inquiry to be in writing)
• If the previous cargo is the same as the present cargo and there is no need for purging or cooling action is immediately taken to measure the tanks after  which loading shall commence
• If the previous cargo proves not to have been the same as the cargo now to be loaded then the tanks are gas freed first and the percentage of gas remaining  is determined through a gas detector and then the vessel goes through purging followed by cooling
• Once the amount of loss has been determined, loading begins
• Determining the quantity loaded
• Filling in and completing the inspection forms
• Making out the protest letters, if required
• Issuing the required certificates
•  Means of Transportation Survey in Accordance with International Standards
• Taking samples from the shore tanks (if loading is to be from shore tanks into means of transportation), or from ship tanks (if discharge is to be directly from the vessel to the means of transportation)
• Being present at the laboratory in order to supervise the tests and analyses and compare the results with the specifications
• Inspecting the tanks of the means of transportation to ensure it is clean and dry
• Random sampling from the means of transportation and performing key test if required
• Measuring the amount loaded in each of the means of transportation
• Sealing the tanks of the means of transportation
• Filling in and completing the inspection forms
• Issuing the required certificates
