  • Taking samples from the contents of shore tanks at least 24 hours before the arrival of the nominated vessel and sealing the sample container
  • Being present at the laboratory in order to supervise the tests and analyses and compare the results with the specifications
  • Taking samples from the shore line immediately upon arrival of the vessel
  • Performing visual inspections of ship tanks as well as wall wash sampling of the tanks
  • Performing key tests on wall wash samples taken from each of the ship tanks
  • Giving permission for the first foot loading in each of the ship tanks if the shore tank and shore line sample  tests have proved satisfactory and the holds are found to be clean
  • Performing key tests on first foot samples taken from the ship tanks
  • Allowing loading to continue if the first foot samples prove satisfactory; and issuing tank cleanliness certificates
  • Supervising the loading, and taking samples as required
  • Determining the quantity of the product loaded on board
  • Filling in and completing the inspection forms
  • Making out the protest letters, if required
  • Issuing the required certificates
