The technical inspection project for the construction of 42-inch pipes and valves for the Gureh-Jask crude oil transmission pipeline and the inspection during the installation of the pipeline has been completed.
The strategic 42-inch crude oil pipeline stretches approximately 1,000 kilometers, transferring oil from the Persian Gulf to the shores of the Oman Sea. It begins at Gureh in Bushehr Province and ends at the Jask terminal on the Makran coast, spanning six sections. The objectives of this project include transferring one million barrels of crude oil to Jask and diversifying the country’s export terminals beyond the Strait of Hormuz.
IGS Company, acting as the third-party inspector on behalf of the main client, the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, was responsible for inspection operations during the pipeline construction process. For the first time, the production of fully Iranian sour-service 42-inch pipelines was accomplished in this project. IGS perform all inspection stages during slab production at Mobarakeh Steel Company, wide plate production at Oxin Steel Company of Khuzestan, and pipe manufacturing at three pipe manufacturing companies: Ahwaz Pipe Mill, Mahshahr Pipe Mill, and Safa Pipe Mill, all in compliance with the project’s technical documents and ITPs.
It is worth mentioning that the inspection of FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy) coating production at Peka Chemical Plant, as well as the coating lines of the mentioned factories, was carried out by IGS’s resident inspection teams. Additionally, inspection of project valve production was conducted by IGS teams at Godakhtar Factory in Arak and Behsazan Jonoob Factory in Ahwaz.
In the continuation of the project, IGS Company, as the third-party inspector, collaborated with the client’s consultant, Sazeh Consulting Engineers, by deploying resident teams across six sections during the installation and commissioning of the pipeline. These teams conducted inspections during fit-up operations, welding processes, and the interpretation of non-destructive testing (NDT).
Ultimately, after completing pigging operations and the trial transfer of crude oil from Gureh to Jask, the project was finalized in the first half of 2021. It is worth noting that all documentation and final books of the manufacturers and contractors were reviewed and approved by IGS’s specialized teams.
